RETROFITTED CAVE IN THE CANYONS OF WADI RUM

A speculative architectural study imagining the retrofitting of Wadi Rum's cavernous landscape into contemporary dwellings.

The project began with a single cave accommodation and expanded into a wider exploration of inhabitation within the desert - drawing on Wadi Rum's geological formations and the organic interiors of Palais Bulles.

Working between architectural visualization, collage and generative image-making, the series explores where landscape ends and architecture begins.

My design vision and articulation of a retrofitted accomodation in a cave in the canyons of Wadi Rum, Jordan.

As we delve deeper, you'll see how this project expanded into a captivating body of work, transforming the desert landscape and its rock formations into unconventional homes. Inside, I drew inspiration from the interiors of Palais Bulles, originally designed by architect Antii Lovag and later renovated by architect Odile Decq.

Blending Dreams with Design:

This project reflects my fascination with 'dreamscape' architecture and interior design—a trend that has gained momentum alongside advancements in visualization technologies. As I observed the creative world embracing AI in design, I embarked on this journey to bring surreal architectural renderings of modern cave dwellings to life in Wadi Rum.

The journey began with my crafting of an initial image, but I sought to explore how AI could respond to precedent images based on text prompts. The AI program generated a range of iterations, each capturing my style and vision with precision.

As you explore this series, you'll witness a true collaboration between technology and artistic vision. Many of the images reflect a co-creation process, where the outputs of the AI program blend seamlessly with my final touches. It's a journey that embodies the evolving tools available to designers and the boundless potential of combining human creativity with artificial intelligence.
